Welcome to Colombia!

We can’t wait to celebrate with you in Medellín!

This is a quick and general guide to help you start planning your trip. For specific bookings or deeper info, feel free to do a little extra research based on what interests you most.

How to Get to Colombia.

We highly recommend booking your flights as early as possible—Colombia is far from Europe and prices rise quickly!

Tip: Spend a night in Bogotá if you want a quick taste of the capital before flying to Medellín.

Best Routes from Europe:

  • Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam, or MadridBogotá (BOG)

  • Main airlines: Lufthansa, Iberia, Air France, KLM

  • Cheapest option: Air Europa (via Madrid). It's a budget airline—affordable but not the most comfortable.

  • Alternative route: via Miami with any major carrier

Parcha Medellin

  • Fly into José María Córdova International Airport (MDE), about 45 minutes from the city center.

    To get into town:

    • Best option: Pre-book a private car or request an Uber (safe and reliable).

    • Avoid unregistered taxis at the airport.

    • There are Official Airport Taxis which are safe and fair priced. They are all white with a blue stripe.

    • You can take a bus if you are feeling adventurous, it’s the cheapest option. It’s safe but can be a pain to get to your final destination; we dont recommend it :)

  • The best neighborhoods are El Poblado and Envigado—they’re safe, lively, and close to all the wedding activities. You could also stay in Laureles, but they are much farther away from the wedding venue.

    Recommended Areas:

    • Provenza – Trendy, walkable, restaurants and nightlife

    • Astorga and Manila – Chill, more local with nice cafés and restaurants

    • La Calera / La Frontera – Upscale residential, great Airbnbs

There are many hotels and hostels in the Poblado area. If you're booking one, feel free to show it to us first—we can take a look and let you know what we think. :)

Best way to explore Colombia

Colombia is an amazing country with beautiful landscapes everywhere. However, due to the mountainous terrain and limited infrastructure, the roads aren’t always the best—and we don’t have a train system. That’s why we recommend flying between destinations whenever possible, except for places like the Coffee Region, where some areas are only accessible by car.

For example, the drive from Bogotá to Medellín takes about 7 hours, but it’s just a 45-minute flight.

Safety Tips in Colombia *

Colombia is beautiful and welcoming, but like any country, staying alert is important. Follow these simple tips:

  • Don’t buy drugs or seek sex tourism—this is illegal and very dangerous

  • Always use Uber or call an official taxi; ask the fare in advance, especially on the coast

  • Avoid walking alone at night, even short distances

  • Keep your phone away in the street—snatch-and-run theft is common

  • Stick to known areas and avoid isolated streets

  • Book official tours only—don’t buy tours from random street sellers
